Saturday, February 5th, the day before the marathon, you can warm up with a beach mile race along the sand beginning at 11:00 a.m. The marathon, half-marathon, and 5k run will take place on Sunday, beginning at 6:30 a.m. Marathon activities begin on Friday, February 4 th, and Saturday, February 5 th with an Active Lifestyle Expo that is free to the public and features health and fitness vendors offering samples and products for purchase. At the finish line, signature surfboard medals and a music festival welcome the long-distance runners. With our mile on the sand and 5K races, there is a distance for anyone to participate in this year.The 26th annual Surf City Marathon and Half-Marathon is taking place this Sunday, February 6th, 2022, along the scenic Pacific Coast Highway, finishing just steps away from the beach! This year, over 11,000 runners are set to run along the breathtaking coast of Huntington Beach, with over 2,000 volunteers cheering them on. “We know how running helps people get through tough situations, and have allocated a limited number of our remaining entries for those furloughed employees to run the race for free this year. “Our heart goes out to those government employees affected by this now 34-day government shutdown, and what better time to get out and run,” said Tiffany Adams, event manager, in a press statement. Valid government ID and proof of furlough are required to get a bib, and entries are based on availability. To get free entry, furloughed government employees (who are not already registered) must register during the expo on February 1 and 2.
There will be live entertainment after the Sunday races, and of-age runners will also get one free celebratory beer.
So it’s only fitting that you can receive a football for your efforts, too-all you have to do is finish the Cowabunga Challenge in addition to one of the Sunday races. The 5K, marathon and half-marathon will be held on February 3, which is Super Bowl Sunday.
